“Sunspill”
Celestial Domino Necklace
By
Leigh Snaith-Brunton
The sharpie Domino Queen
Design Team Leader
1. Start by drilling two holes into a new (shiny) super-sized
white domino. Drill one hole through the domino from the front to
the back at the top and the same at the bottom. Drilling tip: Mark
the position of the holes first and then drill them slowly. The
super-sized dominoes are thicker than standard dominoes so it is
best to go slowly because the drill bit gets quite hot and melts the
domino shavings.
2. Ink up the stamp by Acey Deucy with coal black Ancient Page dye
ink by Clearsnap. Press the domino to the inked image and remove
carefully in an upward motion to prevent smudging. Heat set the
image with an embossing heat tool.
3. Colour the image with ultra-fine Sharpie markers. The background
is a blend of Sky Blue and Ocean Blue with Orange stripes, the
pottery is Peach with the shadows and lines drawn in Brick Red. The
women are a combination of Orange, Yellow and Dandelion and their
hair is stripes of Brown and Red.
4. Edge and colour the sides of the domino with a broad point
metallic gold DecoColor paint pen.
5. Embellish the design with silver star jewels by Stampendous and
brass sun charms. First remove the bale from the charms with wire
cutters and then adhere in place with a drop of Judikins Diamond
Glaze glue.
6. Apply a generous coat of Diamond Glaze to protect the design and
put aside to dry.
7.
Attach a larger brass sun charm to a silver star pendant with silver
wire.
8. Cut two lengths of tiger tail beading wire.
9. Thread one piece of tiger tail wire through the star pendant and
through the bottom hole of the domino. Add a crimp bead to one end
of the wire and pass the other end of the wire through the crimp
bead so that a circle is formed. Pull on the wire ends to tighten
the circle and crimp the bead with bead crimpers or pliers. Hide the
crimp bead inside the domino hole.
10. Create a hanging bale for the domino in the same way using the
other piece of tiger tail wire.
11. Complete the creation by threading the domino pendant onto a
metal choker or chain. |

Celestial Card featuring a Mahjong tile Spotlight
by
Stephanie Loomis
1. Stamp “Serenading the Moon” (The Angel Company)
on a pre cut 5 ½” x 4 ¼” sheet of white glossy cardstock. Use Staz-On
Jet Black ink (Tsukineko)
2. Stamp the angel from the same image onto a mahjong tile using
Staz-On ink (Tsukineko). Heat set.
3. Color the mahjong tile with Permopaque markers (Sakura)
4. Color glossy cardstock with jewel toned pearlescent chalk (Pebble
Inc.) Use a heavy hand with the chalks for maximum coverage. Spray
with chalk sealer.
5. Layer glossy cardstock onto a burgundy A2 note card (source
unknown)
6. Use decorative scissors to cut out vellum quote (source unknown)
7. Attach vellum to upper left side of the card at an angle.
8. Secure the mahjong spotlight* over the angel on the glossy
cardstock, carefully matching the lines. Use the narrowest
dimensional tape available. (Scotch make a good one.)
* ‘Spotlight’ refers to the technique of picking a portion of a
stamped image to highlight. For this project the ‘spotlight’ was
achieved by adding the Mahjong game tile. |

Altered Matchbox & Domino
By
Deirdre
1. Start this project with a travel size domino. Color the face
of the domino with sharpie markers in yellow, orange and red. Rub in
the color before it dries to give a softer muted look.
(See Picture 1)

2. Ink up a sun stamp with black Staz-On ink. Press the face of the
domino down onto the stamp and pull off carefully.
(See Picture 2)

3. When the ink dries glue (E500) clear colored crystals to the face
of the domino on different rays of the sun image. Coat with a layer
of Judikins Diamond Glaze and let dry.
(See Picture 3)

4. Empty the matches from a standard size matchbox. Pull out the
inside section of the matchbox and either drill small holes, four in
the bottom and one at the top, or carefully push holes through with
something sharp. Cut a pretty blue, lightly patterned paper to fit
the outside of the matchbox. Glue the paper onto the outside of the
box with any craft glue. Ink up a moon stamp with black Staz-On ink
and press the top of the matchbox onto the stamp, lift carefully.
Glue small blue crystals into place, as if they were trails left
behind a star. Cut a piece of orange paper to fit the inside of the
matchbox, glue into place.
(See Picture 4)

5. Cut 2, eight inch long pieces of blue “eyelash” yarn. Tie on a
star and moon charm to the middle of each length of yarn. String a
blue and black bead along side each of the charms then push the ends
of yarn through the holes at the bottom of the inside section of the
matchbox and knot them both into place.
6. Cut a long piece of yellow/mixed color “eyelash” yarn. Press one
end of the yarn through the top hole and knot it into place. Gather
the rest in equal sections then tie together to form the top drawer
pull.
(See Picture 5)

7. Print out the words “SUN AND STARS AND MOON COMBINED, OUR
DESTINIES THERE FOR US TO FIND” in Microsoft Word, using a pretty
font. Cut the words into sections that fit the matchbox. Edge the
papers with ink then glue into place.
(See Picture 6)

8. Put the decorated domino charm into the matchbox then slide it
back together. Sweet as a gift for a friend, or surprise someone
with it as a Random Act of Kindness!
(See Picture 7)
