“What About Me??” by
Susan Chong
With the theme for this October challenge in my mind I woke up one morning
and thought about trying to make something with UTEE. I also was thinking
that I have never made anything for myself. I always make projects for
other people. Therefore, my project this month is a Monogram UTEE pin for
ME!
Pounce
Gold Alcohol Ink Metallic Mixative on the back of a Mahjong Tile with
a piece of felt. Allow to dry. Stamp the letter “S” (Ma
Vinci’s Reliquary) onto the tile with Purple Mica Magic Ink. Set the
ink with a heat tool. Edge the tile with a generous portion of Green Mica
Magic Ink. Again, heat set the ink. Edge the cooled tile with a Krylon
Gold Leafing Pen. Allow to dry.
Melt Black UTEE and Flex in a Melting Pot according to the instructions (http://www.schmoozewithsuze.com).
Pour a puddle of UTEE over a craft sheet. Allow to cool slightly. While
still warm, cut the sheet of UTEE into various shapes. Allow to cool
completely.
Choose one of the cut UTEE pieces. (This project piece is approximately 2
x 3 inches) Using a heat tool, re-melt the center of the UTEE piece. (It
is OK if the edges start to re-melt and change shape slightly.) Very
quickly place the Mahjong tile into the melted UTEE and press very firmly.
After the UTEE has cooled completely, pop the tile off of the UTEE.
Pounce
Currant and Pesto Alcohol Inks over the UTEE piece with a piece of
felt.. Immediately pounce Gold Alcohol Ink Metallic Mixative over the
other 2 colors. Work with the inks until you achieve the look you desire.
Allow to dry.
Glue the Monogram Mahjong tile onto the UTEE piece (in the mold you
created earlier) using Zap-A-Gap glue. Attach Confetti Festival Sparklerz
(Art
Accentz by Provocraft) to the UTEE with Zap-A-Gap glue. Finally,
attach a pin back to the piece with Zap-A-Gap glue.
