Celestial Bodies ~ Quick & Creative Cards

Featured Project

Star Shaker card by Annette Lanker

All supplies donated by Penny Wise Arts

Print off a star shaker template (I used 5175 & 5200) onto white matte cardstock. Cut out the shapes and use the next to the largest opening. Stamp the card front using Kaleidacolor Blue Breeze inkpad and Star stamps by Stampin' Up. Stamp the insert using Kaleidacolor Creole Spice inkpad and Sun and Moon stamped by Stampin' Up. Add the wind swirls as seen in the sample. Score the template along the score lines and fold as indicated. Using your insert piece as a pattern trace onto a piece of acetate and create your shaker card window. Adhere over the opening and secure. Add foam tape around the opening to create your shaker chamber and then add your microbeads. Remove the backing from your foam tape and add your insert. Then seal the whole thing by folding your flaps in and sealing with heavy duty adhesive.

Sharing Time by Bernardine Farmer

1. Fold 13” x 6-1/2” royal blue cardstock in half and attach yellow, orange and light blue strips that are 4 3/8” x 1 1/4” at the top, middle and bottom of the card.

2. Cut a light blue and black piece of cardstock 3” x 3-1/2”. Adhere them together with a 1/2” overlap. It should now be 5-1/2” by 3-1/2”.

3. Tear small strips of yellow, orange, red, violet, and royal blue cardstock about 1/4” to 1/2” wide, and layer to middle of blue/black cardstock in this order. Trim excess from the sides if necessary.

4. On light yellow cardstock, stamp Rubber Stampede’s Ornamental Sun with Vivid’s Butterscotch stamp pad and trim leaving some yellow showing. Adhere to blue section of blue/black cardstock.

5. Stamp Anita’s moon and stars to black cardstock with VersaMark and emboss with Ranger’s gold tinsel. With bleach pen, bleach the center of the moon.

6. Adhere blue/black section to royal blue card.
Moon in Window Card by Mary Lind

1. Draw a Palladian window onto 4.25 x 5.5” piece silver metallic cardstock. (It is just a half circle on top of a rectangle.) Use a craft knife and self-healing cutting mat to cut out windows. Distress cardstock using an emory board if desired.

2. Trim a sheet of blue iris Shimmer Sheetz (foil cardstock) to fit bottom window. Attach to back of window using double stick tape or glue stick.

3. Stamp moon and stars image (www.lasimppan.com) onto a second piece of Shimmer Sheetz using Glue ink pad. (Glue ink will remove foil). Overstamp same image onto Shimmer Sheetz using black StazOn. Cut out image.

4. Fold an 8.5 x 11 piece of navy cardstock in half to yield a 4.25 x 5.5” card. Fit window cut out to card front, placing moon image underneath top window. Use glue or double stick tape to attach moon and window to card. Trim around top of window through all thicknesses of card if desired.
