Inward Journey Art Square by Kathy Stoffel

1. Paint the background and sides of a 4x4 inch square canvas using Golden fluid acrylic paints (Phthalo green – yellow shade, titanium white, yellow ochre and Hansa medium yellow).

2. Spread a little bit of baby powder or other releasing agent into a Heart Keyhole #AM195 Krafty Lady Art Mould from After Midnight Art Stamps. Press a piece of air-dry clay (such as Creative Paperclay®) into the mould, let it set for a few minutes, and then carefully remove the keyhole from the mould and let it dry overnight.

3. Following the kit instructions, paint the surface of the clay keyhole with the iron metallic surfacer solution from Modern Option’s Sophisticated Finishes Rust Antiquing Set. Let it dry. Paint on the rust antiquing solution and the lock will look like rusty, corroded metal.

4. Using a slow-drying embossing ink, stamp the doorway from the stamp set “Open the Door to Self” by Lea Cioci (After Midnight Art Stamps) in the upper left corner of the canvas so that the doorway is just off the page. Immediately sprinkle with embossing powder. Shake off the excess embossing powder back into the jar and use a heat gun to set.

5. Stamp the words “inward journey” and “Door Open” from the stamp set with Staz-On black permanent ink.

6. Use regular gel medium or E6000 to glue the rusted keyhole to the canvas.
