Heart by Karen Slusher
1. Use 6 different strips of coordinating papers all cut approximately 1/2
inch wide.
2. Lay strips down and glue horizontally, then cut them vertically as
follows:
2 @ 1/8 inch (left pieces)
2 @ 1/4 inch
2 @ 3/8 inch
3 @ 1/2 inch (Center pieces)
2 @ 3/8 inch
2 @ 1/4 inch
2 @ 1/8 inch (right pieces)
3. Using a piece of cardstock cut in the shape of a heart (sample is
approx. 3-3/4” wide and 3” tall), cover it with double stick tape and lay
it in front of you. Starting in the middle of the heart, lay one of the
1/2 inch strips vertically from the “V” to the point of the heart,
centering.
4. Now, place the next corresponding 1/2 inch strip to the right (or
left), adjusting the pattern up by half the length of the blocks. Continue
placing the strips, adjusting the pattern up by half a block as you work
to the edge pieces (right or left). Repeat this process for the other
side, matching the pattern adjustments from the previously done side.
5. Turn the heart over and trim excess strips.
6. To finish, tie some fibers around the heart, then mount to contrasting
cardstock (yellow), then to a white, standard size card. I also picked
some of the papers and cut out flowers and circles, then glued them onto
the card to decorate around the heart.
7. For the word strips, Stamp the words Love, Faith and Kindness (Close To
My Heart) onto matching strips of paper. Trim as desired, and then adhere
using a white Concho to the corner of the yellow cardstock.
