"Lady of the Flowers" Domino Necklace by Leigh Snaith-Brunton
The Sharpie Domino Queen
Design Team Leader

Stamps provided by:

Supplies:
Standard white domino - www.craftingsandthings.com
Sharpie markers - Purple, Lavender, Burgundy, Pink, Marigold, Olive, Brown
Ancient Page Coal Black dye ink
Gold metallic paint pens - fine and broad points
Green glass beads
Green organza ribbon
1 brass eye screw
Brass key charm
Brass magnetic necklace clasp
Judikins Diamond Glaze glue
Heat/Embossing tool
Dremel tool and vise/clamp
Safety glasses and mask
Clear nail polish
Scissors

Directions:
Start this elegant project by first drilling a hole into the top of the domino. Mark a spot with a black sharpie and secure the domino in a vise/clamp. Carefully drill a hole deep enough to screw in a brass eye screw. Make sure you wear safety glasses and a dust mask against the flying plastic particles.

Once the domino is prepared stamp the lady image directly onto the domino in Ancient Page Coal Black dye ink. Heat set the image or leave for approximately 12 hours to set. You don't need to prepare the surface of the domino, just use a new shiny one as they come out of the tin.

Colour the image with various Sharpie markers, blending and shading to achieve the finished look. For more information on my colouring technique then please visit my website at www.velvetpawcreations.com or read my article in The Somerset Studio July/Aug 2003 issue on page 59.

Add the dot detail to various areas of the image with a fine point gold metallic paint pen. Edge and colour the sides of the domino with a broad gold metallic paint pen. Once the metallic paint is dry apply a layer of Diamond Glaze to the surface and the sides of the finished domino. I like to apply a generous amount to the top surface and then just smear on a thin layer with my finger to the sides (do this once the surface coat is dry of course). Add the key charm to the surface while the glaze is still wet.

Once everything is dry, screw in the eye screw. Cut a length of green organza ribbon and thread 2 or more green glass beads onto the ribbon, through the pendant eye screw then thread on the last of the beads. Make sure you've got equal amounts of beads on both sides of the pendant and spread them evenly apart. Decide how long you want the necklace to be and attach the magnet clasp. I simply thread one end of the ribbon through one piece of the clasp and double knotted the ribbon. Trim away the excess ribbon and then dab on some clear nail polish to secure the knot and prevent it from unraveling or fraying. Repeat the same thing on the other side.
