"Jester Domino Necklace" by Leigh Snaith-Brunton
The Sharpie Domino Queen
Design Team Leader

Stamps provided by:

Supplies:

Sharpie markers - Purple, Lavender, Burgundy, Marigold, Navy, Olive, Sky
Ancient Page Coal Black dye ink
Gold metallic paint pens - fine and broad points
Wooden beads
Metallic blue, Metallic red Eyelash fibers
2 brass eye screws
Brass jump ring - small
Metallic red metal bell
Judikins Diamond Glaze glue
Heat/Embossing tool
Dremel tool and vise/clamp
Safety glasses and mask
Doublecross wooden domino - www.craftingsandthings.com

Directions:
Start this fun project by first drilling two holes into the doublecross domino. Mark a spot with a black sharpie on the top and bottom sides of the wooden domino. Secure the domino in a vise/clamp and carefully drill two holes deep enough to screw in brass eye screws, one on each end of the domino. Make sure you wear safety glasses and a dust mask against the flying wood particles.

Once the domino is prepared stamp the Jester image directly onto the domino in Ancient Page Coal Black dye ink. Heat set the image or leave for approximately 12 hours to set. Colour the image with various Sharpie markers, blending and shading to achieve the finished look. For more information on my colouring technique then please visit my website at www.velvetpawcreations.com or read my article in The Somerset Studio July/Aug 2003 issue on page 59. Colour the jack-in-the-box handle and the bell on the Jester's hat with a fine point gold metallic paint pen. Also add some tiny dots to the background and as highlights for the Jester's eyes. Edge and colour the sides of the domino with a broad gold metallic paint pen. Once the metallic paint is dry apply a layer of Diamond Glaze to the surface and the sides of the finished domino. I like to apply a generous amount to the top surface and then just smear on a thin layer with my finger to the sides (do this once the surface coat is dry of course).

Once everything is dry, screw in the eye screws and attach the bell to the bottom of the domino with a jump ring.

Cut 3 equal lengths of metallic eyelash fibers (1 of red, 2 blue) and braid them together to make a necklace. Thread wooden beads onto the necklace, then through the pendant eye screw then thread on the last of the beads. Make sure you've got equal amounts of beads on both sides of the pendant and spread them evenly apart. Decide how long you want the necklace to be and then knot the fiber ends together. I trimmed the eyelash fibers shorter so that the finished necklace wasn't so fluffy. Even with the shorter eyelash the necklace still has a scarf-like feel to it when around the neck, so it will make a great winter necklace.
