Lumiere
Background by Daylene Strickland
This technique is so versatile and the look changed by using different
colors of Lumiere paint and even the base paint! Black acrylic paint may
be used for a base with a similar application of metallic Lumiere for a
totally different look. Or add spray webbing for texture and another look.
For this particular example, the base coat is Pearl Medium and supplies to
get started are 1 white unfolded napkin, a piece of aluminum foil and a
foam sponge brush.
(See Medium Picture)

Step 1
Paint the napkin with the Pearl Medium completely covering all edges. Do
not be concerned if it wrinkles a bit. This is good for texture. Allow
drying.
(See Picture 1)

Step 2
Choose 3 coordinating metallic colors of Lumiere (this example uses Pearl
Turquoise, Pearl Emerald, Pearl Blue all by Jacquard). Using a baby wipe
dab the colors one at a time randomly to cover the entire sheet. The
moistness of the baby wipes helps the paint spread and blend since it
dries very quickly.
(See Picture 2)

Add second and third color until
desired result is accomplished.
(See Picture 3)

Step 3
When napkin is completely dry gently peel it away from foil. Apply a spray
adhesive to the back and adhere to large piece of white cardstock. Trim
piece for card. The example card uses vases stamp by Stampington embossed
in black water colored with H20’s (Bashful Blue, Summer Breeze, Sweet
Lavender, Irish Mist). This piece has been edged with ribbon using
double-sided adhesive and a butterfly charm added. The torn piece of blue
cardstock has been lightly stamped with script from Hero Arts and edged
with green ink.
