Domino Block: *Tightly arrange 6 plain white standard dominoes into the pattern seen. Trace around patterned dominoes onto a piece of chipboard. Cut out chipboard template on the inside of the traced lines. Affix domino pattern onto chipboard with Gorilla Glue. (Make sure you glue dot side down!) Allow to dry completely. *Lightly sand the front of the domino block. Wipe clean with dry cloth. Using a foam paintbrush, primer the domino block with a light layer of Gesso. Allow to dry. *Using a paintbrush of your choice, paint a nice layer of Pink Gold Lumiere Acrylic paint over the domino block. (Don’t forget the edges!) Allow to dry. Choosing a nice mix of fall colors, very lightly and randomly paint acrylic paints over the first layer. Wipe off some areas so the Pink Gold layer shows through. Allow to dry. Using Gold Acrylic paint, subtly paint faint streaks over the entire domino block. Allow to dry. *Using Forest Green StazOn Ink, randomly stamp Leaf image (Rubber Stampede) over entire domino block. *Edge the entire domino block with a very thick line with a Krylon Gold Leafing Pen. Allow to dry. Shrink Art: Stamp Oak Ash & Thorne image (Third Coast Art Rubber Stamps) onto the rough side of clear shrink plastic with Black StazOn Ink. When dry, use colored pencils to color the leaves, head ornament, eyes, and lips of the image. Carefully cut out the image and shrink with heat gun. (Or follow the manufacturers’ instructions on how to shrink in a toaster oven) When cool, edge plastic piece with a Krylon Gold Leafing Pen. Affix the Oak Ash & Thorne plastic piece onto the domino block as shown with Red Liner Tape. Finishing Touches: Glue Beaded Fringe over the top and bottom of the domino block with Gel Medium. (You may also use Red Liner Tape) Allow to dry. Cut the back off of 3 copper Maple Leaf brads. Affix to domino block as shown using your favorite craft glue. Allow to dry. |
