Egyptian Grid by Robin Smalley

Make your grids on the white card stock by arranging strips of Post-it tape. Stipple with different colors of dye ink. Remove your tape and cover up the area you just inked, continue until your panel is complete. (Click here for more information on the Grid Technique)

Use a piece of heavy scrap card stock to use as a guide when applying a black marker to divide the different colors in your grid.

Stamp Egyptain symbols (Stampland) into your inked areas. The triangle and stars are from Judi Kins  "Qbits" stamp.

Put your stamped layer onto a black card.

The Kimono by Cheryl Rotnem

Cut ivory cardstock to 3-1/4" X 9-1/2" and fold.
Stamp the Harmony stamp in black dye ink randomly on front. Then paint with various colors of H2O's let dry.
Stamp the Kimono and emboss with black embossing powder. Cut out and glue to black cardstock and trim as shown. Attach to ivory card using pop-dots.

Stamps: Kimono w/ Cranes by Design in Squares; Harmony stamp by Stampin' Up!
Melted Crayon Cards by Nancy Colin

I like to create 8-1/2" x 11" sheets of this background cardstock so I can quickly put together cards when needed.

Start with background cardstock (click here for basic directions.) Rub embossing ink over background and add UTEE. Heat to melt. Layer as shown.

Celtic Card:  Use three colors of green crayons; UTEE and embossing powders: platinum, copper, clear and green.

Color letters with a gold gel pen, knots with a green pencil. Edge saying with a gold pen. Stamp by: Embossing Arts

Anubis by Nancy Colin

Stamp Hieroglyphics (ERA Graphics) using a VersaMark inkpad onto decorative paper. Stamp Anubis then Egypt (Art Impressions) in StazOn Black ink. Edge piece with a Krylon Gold Leafing Pen. Layer onto black cardstock.

Dragonfly Vase by Lis Whiting

Fold a piece of red cardstock in half to create your card base. Take your black mulberry paper and place the FRONT upper left corner between your fingers and begin to bend it inward (see picture above). (The front of the mulberry cardstock is the rough side.) This will loosen up the paper fibers so that you can make the paper fold more easily. Turn it so that the smooth side (back side) is facing you. Take the yuzen washi paper and adhere it in the upper right corner (when you turn the cardstock over the paper will be in the upper left corner on the back side). Turn the paper to the front and bend the upper left corner so that you make a triangle with the corner. Take a 1/8 punch and punch a hole through both layers of mulberry and yuzen. Place a gold eyelet in the hole and set it. Take a gold metallic marker and splatter gold on the mulberry. Stamp Chinese writing on the red cardstock in the upper left hand corner. Mount the mulberry so that the Chinese writing shows.

Punch a vase [Punch Bunch] out of Bazzil Dahlia cardstock. Turn the cardstock to the smooth side when you emboss. Using VersaMark and a dragonfly stamp, emboss (in gold) a dragonfly design in the center of the vase. Take the vase and run the top of the neck and the base across the VersaMark pad and emboss in gold.

Take a ribbon punch [Fancy Medallion by All Night Media used here] and carefully punch four times in the gold vellum, lining up the design. You may want to practice on plain paper first. Cut the vellum down to about 3-1/8 x 1-1/8 and mount on the black mulberry. Add your vase and a dragonfly.
Bijin Collage by Heather Taylor

On a piece of handmade paper heavy with inclusions (this one has straw in it), spray first with water, then with Ranger Adirondack Spray Washes in Butterscotch & Raisin. Tone it down with a little Tsukineko Walnut Ink spray. Stamp postmark stamps (Art Neko) with Plum Ancient Page ink randomly. Let dry.

On a piece of white art tissue, stamp woman collage (Art Neko) with VersaCraft black, then dry with heat gun. Cover back and front with Judikins Diamond Glaze and press into decorated handmade paper. Sprinkle with Copper & Gold Perfect Pearls or Pearl Ex.

On coordinated base cardstock, stamp postage stamps (Art Neko) randomly with VersaMark ink; dry.

Cover a little frame (Maya Roads from Frantic Stamper) with Ranger Alcohol Inks (Raisin & Butterscotch). Let dry, then affix to image, framing two kanji, with Diamond Glaze.

When dry, turn piece over and randomly attach gold embroidery thread bits onto double-stick tape. Cover again with tape, then affix to base cardstock.
