Egyptian Grid by
Robin Smalley
Make your grids
on the white card stock by arranging strips of Post-it tape. Stipple
with different colors of dye ink. Remove your tape and cover up the
area you just inked, continue until your panel is complete. (Click
here for more information on the Grid Technique)
Use a piece of
heavy scrap card stock to use as a guide when applying a black
marker to divide the different colors in your grid.
Stamp Egyptain
symbols (Stampland) into your inked areas. The triangle and stars
are from Judi Kins "Qbits"
stamp.

Dragonfly
Vase by Lis Whiting
Fold a piece of red cardstock in half to create your card base. Take
your black mulberry paper and place the FRONT upper left corner
between your fingers and begin to bend it inward (see picture
above). (The front of the mulberry cardstock is the rough side.)
This will loosen up the paper fibers so that you can make the paper
fold more easily. Turn it so that the smooth side (back side) is
facing you. Take the yuzen washi paper and adhere it in the upper
right corner (when you turn the cardstock over the paper will be in
the upper left corner on the back side). Turn the paper to the front
and bend the upper left corner so that you make a triangle with the
corner. Take a 1/8 punch and punch a hole through both layers of
mulberry and yuzen. Place a gold eyelet in the hole and set it. Take
a gold metallic marker and splatter gold on the mulberry. Stamp
Chinese writing on the red cardstock in the upper left hand corner.
Mount the mulberry so that the Chinese writing shows.
Punch a vase [Punch Bunch] out of Bazzil Dahlia cardstock. Turn the
cardstock to the smooth side when you emboss. Using VersaMark and a
dragonfly stamp, emboss (in gold) a dragonfly design in the center
of the vase. Take the vase and run the top of the neck and the base
across the VersaMark pad and emboss in gold.
Take a ribbon punch [Fancy Medallion by All Night Media used here]
and carefully punch four times in the gold vellum, lining up the
design. You may want to practice on plain paper first. Cut the
vellum down to about 3-1/8 x 1-1/8 and mount on the black mulberry.
Add your vase and a dragonfly. |
