Domino Ornaments by Kathy Novy

I made different versions to show how adding different embellishments can change the look of the ornaments. You can even personalize the ornaments for your friends and family this way too!

Supplies:

Peppermint Party 2002 by House Mouse Rubber Stamp by Stampabilities

Stamps Hero Arts Snow People Border Rubber Stamp

Rummy game pieces

Sand paper

Krylon Workable Fixative

Brilliance Graphite Black pigment inkpad

Sharpie permanent markers

Glitter gel pens

Crystal Lacquer

Christmas ribbons

DMC embroidery floss

Various miniature ornament embellishments

Variety of plastic beads for embellishments

Beading string

Beading needle

E-6000 Adhesive

Elmer's Glue

Directions:

Sand the game tiles to remove the sheen.

Drill holes in the top of the game tiles for the hanging cords and three holes in the bottom of the game tiles to attach the beaded dangle embellishments.

Spray two coats of workable fixative onto the game tiles. Let the Stamp your images and heat set.

The game tiles will be hot so let them cool and then spray two more coats of fixative. This will set the designs and get you ready to start coloring the images.

I used the Glitter gel pens because it gave the images a bit of glitz.

I also used the Sharpie's because they are very wet and they color

beautifully.

Heat set the game tiles and allow to set overnight to insure they are completely dry.

The next day spray two more coats of the fixative letting them dry between coats.

Put a thin layer of Crystal Lacquer on the game tiles to set the design.

Be careful not to get to much in the drilled holes because it is hard to get out.

Let the game tiles dry overnight and the next day you are ready to start the embellishing.

Use E-6000 Adhesive to apply the thin Christmas ribbon around the edge of the game tiles.

(I used beading thread because it is much stronger than regular thread.)

After all the beading use the Elmer's Glue on the knots to insure they will not come out.

Used a wider ribbon on the back of the game tiles.

Use embroidery floss for the hanging cords.
