Using
Puzzle Pieces by Betty McCommon
Supplies:
Stamps by Dream Impressions
2 Puzzle pieces ( I used 2 from a children's puzzle that had bigger
pieces)
Pearl ex
Acrylic paints
Shrink plastic
Black Brilliance and Versamark pad
chalks
UTTE
Micro gold beads, charm, jump ring and pin back, E600 glue
Gold Leafing pen
Directions:
First mix paints and Pearl Ex and paint on puzzle, Here I used Green
mixed with green Pearl Ex, gold with gold and Terra Cotta with Russet.
After they are dry stamp footprints on the pieces, heat set, rub Versamark
on whole piece and dip in Clear UTEE. Heat to melt, while still hot, dip
in UTEE again and heat then sprinkle a few beads on before it hardens.
When cool, edge pieces with gold leafing pen and for a real finished look,
color the back of them with the pen also. Glue together and set aside.
Cut Shrink Plastic in an oval, I used an oval cutter but a die cut machine
would have been easier if I had one!
Stamp dogs on in Brilliance ink. Carefully heat set to dry ink but not
enough to start it shrinking (a hair dryer works good for this if you have
problems)
With chalks and qtips, color image. Remember, when you shrink colors
intensify greatly on shrink plastic. Punch hole on bottom for charm and
shrink. I use a heat gun, they do tend to 'run' around a little and curl
but I'm to impatient to do it in the oven which I hear gives great
results. I hold it with my stylus on an edge. Right after it's all shrunk
and still warm, flatten if needed, with the back of a wood mounted stamp
(not the rubber side!). I have found that a piece of baking parchment
paper under all my mess keeps everything from sticking. Then I edged with
my leafing pen and even colored the back again. Since I couldn't find a
gold dog related charm, I used my leafing pen to color the bone and jump
ring! I love my leafing pens.
Assemble as shown using E600 glue. |
