“Daydreams of the Orient Accordion Book” by Stephanie Loomis

All the stamps used in this project are sponsored by
Lasting Impressions with Panache
http://www.lasimppan.com

Mirror image geisha stamps form the covers of this little book.

1. Stamp each oval image onto book board.
2. Cut out each one using a Creative Memories oval cutter. Leave a 1/4" border all around.
3. Stamp images again onto cardstock using Staz-On black ink (Tsukineko)
4. Color images with Twinkling Watercolors (LuminArte). Let dry.
5. Cut images using the same cutter as with the book board.
6. Cut Origami paper (Aitoh) into ovals 1/2" larger than the baseboard.
7. Glue Origami ovals to what will become the inside covers of the book. Wrap edges around to the front side. (Nori paste is my favorite with delicate papers)
8. Fold a 24” x 5” sheet of paper (Marco’s papers) into an accordion book: mountain folds alternating with valley folds at 3” intervals.
9. Trim book to an oval shape about 4” tall.
10. Use chalk inks (Tsukineko) to stamp images on the front and back of the accordion pages.
11. Glue the first and last pages to the covers of the book.
12. Glue the outside images (now dry) to the front of the book board covers.
13. Clip book together with binder clips or clothespins and place under a heavy book until all glue is completely dry.
14. Embellish front cover with a Chinese coin (Oriental Trading Company)
15. Add a black wooden domino (with the dragon pattern facing up) to the inside front cover of the book.
16. Add an 18” length of red fiber (source unknown) to the book by wrapping it around the domino.
17. Wrap the fiber around the book to hold it closed.
18 . Sign your art!
