Travels Grid Collage by Linda Strawn, Design Team Leader

Rubber Stamping Techniques
Grid Technique

To form your grid gather together the following supplies:
Post it label and cover up tape from 3M
3 colors of dye base ink pads
Variety of stamp images
pom poms or cotton balls
Black ink pad
White mat linen cardstock
Now let’s get started

1. Cut an 8-1/2 x 11 inch cardstock into 4 equal pieces. Set aside 3 pieces to use later or work all 4 at the same time.

2. Cut a piece of post it tape and tape it down about 1” down from the top of the grid, press firmly. (See Picture 1)

3. Using a cotton ball, ink up the lightest of the 3 colors of ink and tap in the color starting at the top of the cardstock. Next ink up the middle color and tap it right next to the first color and last pick up your darkest color and tap it in next to the tape. (See Picture 2)

4. Remove tape and place it 2” over from the right hand side. (See Picture 3)

Repeat adding the same colors going from light to dark and also going across the colors added from the previous step. (See Picture 4)

This does 2 things it forms a new grid line and deepens and adds a new hue for the grid from the first step.

5. Continue to add tape at different angles but always remember to work from lightest to darkest and to go clear across the angle even if you are going across another color. Work till entire cardstock is finished.
(See complete picture set.)

6. Using black stamp pad and a variety of images, stamp images into the various grids, see finished picture. For the travel collage I used travel images to form a theme on travel.

7. To make card: Cut your finished grid piece into 3 equal sections. Mount the sections on a piece of black cardstock, leaving a small and equal space between sections and all around the card. See finished card

8. Add extra stamped images, words, tiles, charms, and postage stamps to compliment your theme. See finished pictures.
