1. Create a 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" journal using a Japanese Stab
Binding technique (I highly recommend the classic Cover to Cover by Shereen LaPlantz published by Lark Books in 1995). As you work the
binding, add shell beads to the threads.
2. Stamp “Beach Dancer” (The Stamping Studio) with Pearl Ex stamp
pad Two-Tone Color/Gold Blue (Jacqaurd).
3. Mask dancer and stamp wings (Lasting Impressions with Panache)
with same ink.
4. Stamp Birds and Swirls (all The Stamping Studio) with same ink.
5. Color dancer with Prismacolor pencils.
6. Highlight with Dimensional Magic (Plaid)
7. Use two-way glue to highlight wings. Sprinkle with fine glitter.
8. Stamp "Art" (Lasting Impressions with Panache) with same Pearl Ex
ink.
9. Stamp "Eclectic Borders" (The Angel Company) onto small domino
and heat set. Highlight domino edges with Gold Leafing Pen (Krylon)
Repeat with "dream" (The Angel Company)
10. Attach "borders" domino to a small button. Attach button/domino
to right edge of journal front cover with white glue. Attach “dream”
domino to left side of dancer with white glue.
11. Punch a hole on the back cover of the journal. Using the same
threads as in the binding, thread a small button and pull threads
through the hole in the back. (The button will prevent the threads
from pulling through so that they can be used to wrap around the
domino as a closure.)
12. Add a blue bead and more shell beads to a length of threads to
wrap around book hinge. Highlight with gold leaf pen (Krylon)
13. Add a blue bead to the closure threads.
14. Finish journal corners with brass corners. |
