F is for Fish, F is for Faerie by Lis Whiting
Rubber Stamping Game Pieces

Create you Base Card:
Cover an 8-1/2 x 11 inch sheet of 110lb cardstock with a water-themed washi paper. Fold in half to create your card.

The Sea Fish:
Take six mahjong tiles and lay them in rows of three, one on top of the other. Secure them to your scratch paper using double stick tape. When you stamp, the tiles won’t move. Stamp Big Mexican Garibaldi [Fred B Mullett Stamps] using forest green StazOn [Tsukineko]. Heat set. Line the edges of the tiles with Liquid Gold [Decocolor]. Use Designer Dries Clear glue and outline the middle third of the scales on the fish. Glitter these scales using transparent micro fine art glitter in sea foam. Let dry. Using the glue again, outline the lower third of the scales and then glitter using transparent Sunshine. Let dry. Use the glue on the top third of the fish scales and glitter using Hot Lips. Make some very fine dots on the top half of the gills (not too many) and use Hot Lips to glitter here also. Use Crystal Stickles glitter glue to color in the fin (follow the lines of the fins only). Let dry. Make several dots of Aleene's Thick designer Tacky glue above the fish’s mouth. Place macro glass beads for bubbles. (See Picture 1)

Attach tiles to card using double stick tape. Place two at a time as this will be easier to make sure that all are even and straight.

Make a Frame for Your Sea Fish:
Take gold embossed script scrapbook paper [Penny Black] and glue it to a backing of 110 pound cardstock for sturdiness. Cut to horizontal pieces and two vertical pieces (each 1/2 inch thick) a little longer and higher than the tiles (3 -3/4 horizontal and 3-1/2 inches tall). Place each end overlapping the next at the corner. Take a ruler and make an angle from the outside corner point to the inside corner point (of each corner) and make a cut. You will now have a finished corner. Do each of the other three corners the same way. Put the frame together in the back using scotch tape. Use double stick tape, The TAPE [Draggin’ Ink] or wonder tape to adhere the frame to the tiles. Add a curl of “seaweed” to the lower edge of the frame using dark green artist wire.

The Faerie:
Stamp your faerie image [Faerie Song Rubber Stamps] onto serpentine Stardream paper [The Paper Cut] using forest green StazOn ink [Tsukineko]. Cut out a single faerie carefully. Punch a hole in the top and add a gold eyelet. Color the faerie with gold and crystal glitter glues [Stickles]. Let dry. (See Picture 2)

The Letter F:
Cut out a lowercase cursive “f” [Accucut: Corsiva lowercase “f” 3 inches]. Punch a 1/8 hole in each side of the crossbar on the “f”. Attach gold eyelets. Use green and gold artist wire [22 g] to wrap around the letter like seaweed. Make a couple of curly cues and add them on the left and at the bottom. Take a piece of the gold wire and create a jeweler’s loop. Attach to the right hole on the letter. Attach the sea faerie to the letter.
Write “fishfaeries” in the lower and the upper portions of the letter using sumi ink (this is an ink that is used to do decorative Japanese writing but it is also excellent for writing on slick surfaces. This ink is really amazing. It has MANY uses. Anyone interested in this, please email me.) (See Picture 3)
©Lis Whiting

Attach the letter to the right side of the card using mounting tape. Send your card only to those who believe in faeries of the sea!
