Rubber Stamping
Differently Shaped Cards

This is a great way to use up those old CD’s you get in the mail.

1. Use a good flat CD and either draw around it, or photocopy (See Picture 1)

cut this pattern out and fold in half. Lay this folded pattern on your CD and with a permanent pen draw a line to cut down the middle. (See Picture 2)

2. Heat a pan of water and place CD in to heat till it is soft enough to cut with a scissors. (See Picture 3)

; do not overheat as it will start to curl the CD. Make a cut straight down the middle to the hole in the center. (See Picture 4)

Then place back into the water to heat a bit and when softer cut down the other side to meet you cut in the middle hole. (See Picture 5)

3. This will leave you with 2 equal pieces. (See Picture 6)

4. With a pen mark off 4 equal holes on one of the pieces along the cut straight edge. (See Picture 7)

5. Line up both pieces so the edges match all around and using a hand drill, drill thru both pieces at your marks. (See Pictures 8

6. On a patterned piece of red swirl paper place your 2 cut pieces of CD’s together to again make a circle and trace around them onto the back of the red swirl paper and cut out. (See Picture 10)

Crumple this up into a tight ball, and unfold carefully, swipe across the surface with a brown stamp pad.

7. Place the 2 cut CD’s together again to form a circle and spread a layer of PVA or other good glue on the CD’s, smooth the glue out with your fingers making sure you cover all the surface of the CD. (See Picture 11)

Place the red paper on top of the CD and smooth the wrinkles and bubbles out with your fingertips. Cut in half again and use a needle to repunch your drilled holes thru the paper. (See Picture 12)

Repeat with lavender paper for the other side. (See Picture 13)

8. Place the 2 cut pieces together with the red paper forming the front and back of the card and the lavender paper inside. Cut 4 pieces of linen thread about 6 inches long. Using a needle and the linen thread go into the hole from the front to the back side and tie just once. Repeat for the other 3 holes. (See Picture 14)

9. Open up the card so it once again forms a circle and the red paper is facing up and tie the threads into a knot. (See Picture 15)

Close the card.

10. On white linen paper stamp Long stemmed posies with black ink and using colored pencils color and shade the flowers, Tear around the flowers to fit your card. Also tear a piece of dictionary paper to fit card and glue to front of card. Mount flower image on top of this. Place small purple gemstones in the center of each flower. Cut out a single flower if desired.

11. Use a word oval from Making Memories and place this along the middle right side of card. Glue flower so stem touches oval, see finished picture.

12. Place a pearl headed stick pin (available from Making Memories) thru the paper, and write friends on the small tag. Glue a charm to the left side. (See Finished Card)

13. Tie in several ribbon scraps using the tails of the twine left from binding your card. See finished picture.

14. Inside stamp with eggplant ink Background text #Q1771, and stamp flowers say hello from the heart onto white linen and tear around it and ink edges with the eggplant ink. (See Picture 16)

Glue this to the inside.
