Making this card involves five steps:
Directions:
Cutting and scoring the gold and blue card stock
Stamping and coloring the Mythical Landscape image
Trimming the image
Applying the gold glitter over the image
Assembling the card
Cutting and Scoring the Gold and Blue Card Stock
Cut the gold card stock to 4 7/8" high by 3 3/4" wide.
Cut the blue card stock to 5 3/8" high by 8 1/2" wide.
Score and fold the blue card stock.
Stamping and Coloring the Mythological Landscape Image
Using the black dye ink, stamp the Mythological Landscape stamp on the
white card stock.
Using the markers or colored pencils, color in the image. (Be sure to use
yellow to color in the sun and the sun's rays.)
Tip on Coloring: You can create depth to your coloring by using more than
one shade of a color. For example, when you color in the river, use deep,
medium, and light blues.
Trimming the Image
Using the scissors, trim the Mythical Landscape image. (The trimmed image
should measure 4 3/4" high by 3 5/8" wide.)
Applying the Gold Glitter over the Image
Note on Red Liner: A Red Liner clear double stick adhesive sheet consists
of three pieces: a clear sheet that is sticky on both sides that is
sandwiched between a white backing and a red backing.
Cut a piece of the Red Liner clear double stick adhesive sheet slightly
larger than the white card stock stamped with the Mythological Landscape.
Peel off the white backing to expose one side of the clear sticky sheet.
Place the Red Liner on the table sticky-side up, and then place the the
image face-down on the sticky surface.
Reattach the white backing to the clear sticky surface, over the back of
the image.
Turn the image face-up and, using the bone folder, smooth the surface of
the red backing.
Using the scissors, trim the excess Red Liner from around the image.
Tip on Trimming: When you trim the image, the glue from the adhesive sheet
can get on the blades of your scissors, making them sticky. To prevent
that from happening, you should reattach the white backing to the red
layer before you smooth it. Reattaching the backing also prevents the
edges of the red layer that stick out beyond the white card stock from
sticking to the surface of the table.
Remove the white backing.
Peel the red backing off the image, leaving the clear, sticky surface of
the image exposed.
Sprinkle the gold ultra fine crystal glitter over the sticky surface of
the image. The glitter sticks to the surface of the card.
Tip on Sprinkling Glitter: Glitter is like embossing powder in the sense
that only a finite amount can stick to the ink -- or, in this case, the
sticky surface. Because of the stickiness of the Red Liner, you don't have
to worry about glitter falling off the card. However, you probably
sprinkled on so much glitter that not all of it could find a sticky area
to adhere to. So after you sprinkle on the glitter, you should lightly tap
the edge of the card on the table a few times to shake off any glitter
that couldn't find a sticky area.
Assembling the Card
Using double sided tape or a glue stick, attach the white card stock to
the gold card stock.
Using double sided tape or a glue stick, attach the gold card to the blue
card stock.
A Note of Thanks
Many thanks to Jackie Trombley for teaching me how to use the Red Liner
adhesive sheets and for inspiring me to design the Mythological Landscape
card. |
