Directions:
Start the project off by preparing the cardstocks. Trim an existing
rectangular folded card down to form a square. Then trim the peach and
ivory cardstocks to size. These will be the panels for the main folded
card.
With a pencil and ruler draw in the grid to create a chess board
background. Colour alternating squares with peach and light peach
Prismacolor coloured pencils. Add a touch of the light peach coloured
pencil to the ivory squares too. Once coloured draw in the lines again
with a fine point black sharpie. Edge all the panels and the folded card
with a broad point black paint pen or sharpie.
Next, make the heart charm. Cut out two hearts from mirror silver metallic
cardstock. Cut a length of silver wire and sandwich the wire between the
two hearts. Glue the hearts together with Fast Grab tacky glue. Thread
blue beads in assorted shades and length onto the wire. Finish the ends of
the wire with an eye loop. Use needle nose pliers to form the loop. Adhere
a blue heart jewel to the charm and put aside to dry.
Then punch the corners of just the chess board background and embellish by
adding gold and silver fiber. Adhere the fibers in place on the back of
the cardstock with sticky tape. Before sticking down the top gold fiber,
thread the heart charm onto the fiber first.
Adhere the chess board background to the peach panel and then those panels
to the folded card with glue or double-sided sticky tape.
Next, add detail to the chess pieces with a gold metallic paint pen. To
create the little niche for the chess pieces use the drawer from a
matchbox. Colour the inside of the matchbox drawer with a gold metallic
paint pen and the outside in silver. Adhere the pearl bead trim to the
edge with Fast Grab tacky glue.
Unfurl the tulle from the wedding pick and glue to the back of the
matchbox drawer. Then glue the chess pieces in place and the pearl stems
from the wedding pick.
Determine the placing of the matchbox niche and then hand write the word
'Something' in pencil. Re-write over the pencil with a fine point metallic
gold paint pen. Then add depth to the word by outlining with a fine point
black Sharpie. Glue on a smaller blue heart jewel above the 'i'.
Adhere the matchbox niche in place with glue dots. Then spell out the word
'BLUE' with blue alphabet pebble stickers.
As a finishing touch create a twirl from a length of silver coloured wire
and loop it around the fibers on the bottom right corner.
