Three Birds Collage by Kathy Stoffel Project Sponsored by:

1. Select a book with an interesting cover. Use the back of the book to reduce distraction from the title, if desired.

2. a. Print or copy a picture of a garden scene onto tracing paper (tissue paper, mulberry paper or other thin paper). Cut out the picture, lay it onto plastic and coat both sides with diluted Mod Podge®. Set aside to dry.
b. Stamp a couple of eggs using the egg stamp from the For The Birds collection (Time To Stamp) on blue cardstock using brown ink…cut out the eggs and set aside.
c. Cut out a picture of a bug and set aside.

3. Cut a piece of mat board or canvas board the size of the photo; dull the edges with ink or paint. Glue the garden photo from Step 2 on the board.

4. Cut twigs to frame the photo. Dull the ends of the twigs with ink. Glue the twigs on the photo.

5. Select a piece of metal trim or hardware to embellish the collage. If you are using a flat piece, just glue it to the book cover. If you use a drawer handle, drill holes through the book and attach with screws from the underside.

6. Glue the framed photo board, bug and eggs to the book cover using matte gel medium.

7. Cut out an interesting shaped piece of plastic (acrylic sheet) using a jeweler’s saw and stamp the three birds stamp from the For the Birds collection (Time To Stamp) along the side of the plastic using StazOn® ink.

8. Secure the plastic using gloss gel medium in just a few places on the twig frame; this will dry clear.
