Roses Stained Glass by
Linda Strawn
You can use different shades of glitter to make flat objects have depth
and shadow, just as I have done on the roses. See picture.
1. On heat resistant transparency, stamp stain glass roses window from
PSX, using black transparency ink from Art Institute glitter. Let dry, or
dry lightly with a heat gun keeping the heat a good distance from the
transparency.
2. When dry, take a look at the roses, you will be glittering the lighter
areas first, saving the shadow areas last. Fill first petal with glue and
then flood the area with Valentine red, continue on to do the next light
petal. Work 1 section at a time till lighter area is completely filled.
Sometimes you can fill in just a part of the petal to highlight it.
3. Let dry completely about 1 hour and then go back and fill in the petals
that will have shadow, if a leaf or another petal overlaps the petal then
it will have shadow, these are the areas you are filling now. This area
will be filled with jingle bell red. Let dry as before.
4. Glitter the remaining petals with Christmas red to complete the roses.
5. For the leaves I used Sea for the light areas of the leaf, and deep
forest for the darker areas. See picture.
6. Let dry completely, and fill the stain glass with glue and glitter the
window with crystal glitter. Let dry before mounting.
7. Layer different reds on a white card, I used a metallic red, then a
textured red, and finally a holographic red. Cut out the window and mount
this on top of the mats. See picture.
8. On white cardstock using watermelon red ink from the Sea Brights line
from Ranger Industries, stamp saying #C-2167 from PSX and cut out. Mount
onto Textured red. Using a needle poke a small hole into bottom right
corner and hang a heart charm using a jump ring.
