The Rose by Linda
Strawn 1.
Pick out 7 pieces of scrapbook paper in varying shades of red, from light
to dark, 1 piece of the 7 should be a holographic red. I get my
holographic paper by looking in the gift wrap especially around the
holidays.
(See picture 1 for my paper picks.)

2. Cut a 1-3/4" wide strip of all 7 papers and fold in half lengthwise.
3. You can find a rose pattern on the internet for downloading for a small
fee; just use your search engine to locate. My pattern came from the book
Elegant Iris folding by Maruscha, it is available to order from Amazon.com.
The pattern I used is found on page 23 of this book. You can also draw
your own pattern if you like.
4. Make 2 copies of this pattern, one on computer paper and the other onto
white linen cardstock.
(See Picture 2)

5. Using an exacto knife and a light box cut out rose pattern outline
carefully on the white linen paper.
(See Picture 3

and
Picture 4)

6. Place your cut pattern and your computer copy pattern right sides
together so angles show thru, be sure and match the edges, and secure
these with removable tape. This will give you your pattern with the angles
showing thru on the backside.
(See Picture 5)

7. Lay out your folded strips in the order you want them to appear on the
picture, keep in mind you are working on the backside of the picture.
8. Start with angle #1 and lay your folded strip right along the edge on
the angle, make sure the folded part of your strip is lying on the angle.
Tape down securely with scotch tape. Repeat all around rose using this
first color only on the angles marked with a 1, you will use 5 strips. I
used the holographic paper for the first petals and cut my long folded
strips into 5 pieces.
(See Picture 6)

9. Repeat step #8 for color and angle #2, and for all the rest of the 7
angles. Last trace out stem and
leaves onto printed paper using a light box and cut out, glue to rose.
(See Picture 15)

10. When all angles are covered, cut a square of holographic red to cover
the center. See pic 13 Turn over to front side to see finished rose,
(See Picture 14)

11. Turn picture to front side and ink the heartfelt stamp from Stampin Up
with watermelon red ink from Ranger and stamp on the bottom as shown in
finished picture.
12. Pick a frame to compliment your picture and remove the glass and
inside mat, use the mat to cut a piece of printed paper the same size. Mat
this with holographic paper and mat the picture on top of holographic
paper, cutting your picture down to size needed.
(See Picture 16)

13. Using your computer and print out attached poem the rose, chose custom
size to match my size when printing. Cut this saying out close to the
words and mat this with a piece of red holographic paper and then mat this
with the same printed paper you used to matt the picture.
(See Picture 17)

14. Add a red brad at each corner and mount onto rose picture at the right
side.
15. Place a butterfly paper charm on picture where desired and place into
frame, see finished picture.
