Butterfly Scrapbook Page by Karen Bourke

This page was inspired by a photograph taken in the garden of a butterfly taking nectar from a flower.

Take a sheet of 12" x 12" paper in a colour/pattern that co-ordinates with your photograph. Tear down approximately one third of the sheet on the right hand side. Turn the top left hand corner towards you so the white backing is showing. Stick this to your 12" x 12" scrapbook page.

Next attach a frame to your photograph and place on the page. (See Picture 1)

When you are happy with its position glue it down. Take a border and glue it down the right hand side of the page.

Two embossed butterflies are attached – one to the top left blank area (See Picture 2)
and the other at the bottom right halfway over the torn paper and the main page. (See Picture 3)

Cut four tags out using either a dye cutting machine or a paper punch – one in a pearlized purple, one from a dictionary definition, one from the main photograph and one from an embossed/glittered sheet of parchment. Tie these four tags together with a ribbon and place on the layout. (See Picture 4)

On your computer type the main title of the page – in this case it is a vertical title. Print it out onto copy paper. Take a piece of ribbon the same length as the title and stick it onto the same piece of copy paper (over the text) using repositionable glue. Run it through your printer again so the title is now printed onto the ribbon. Gently remove from the copy paper and position on your scrapbook layout. (See Picture 5)

Finally tie a metal butterfly embellishment to some ribbon and attach to the top of the photo frame.
