Slide Mailer Art Shrines by Kerri Kowal
This art shrine was made using a Single Slide Mailer which has been base coated with Metallic Olive Green Lumiere acrylic paint, and then sponged with Super Copper Lumiere acrylic paint. The front was then stamped with the peacock feather (from Stampland) in light brown, black and white dye-based inks, then stamped with a script background (Artful Illusions). "Mystery," "Beauty," "Art" and tiny dragonflies were stamped on the front and inside covers (Hero Arts), as well as the leaf flourish (Golden Acorn). The female image was cut from a magazine using a glass microscope slide as the template, and glued into the niche using a gluestick. A microscope slide was placed over the image and a bead of Judikins Diamond Glaze was squeezed around the edge of the slide** and up into the peak. Gold/Copper/Black microbeads were sprinkled into the wet glaze and left to dry. Beaded fringe and dragonfly charm were added using gel medium. See other examples of Slide Mailer Art Shrines. **Some people have had trouble with the Diamond Glaze oozing under the slide and leaving a shiny spot on the image. Artful customer Ruth Goldfarb solved this problem by
