I "officially" began rubber stamping 3 years ago and still consider myself somewhat of a novice in this art form. I tole painted and did general craftwork for many years, including cutting up the Sears Roebuck catalog and making scenes as a child! After discovering rubber stamping, I find a home for all my loves--painting, collage, and stamping. The ability to use acrylic, oil and watercolor paints with rubber stamping has opened a whole new world for me, particularly in Altered Objects. Looking at a "found" object and re-creating is great fun. Another favorite pastime is folding and bending paper. Going to the dollar stores, finding something "ready" made, coming home and rebuilding is heaven to me. Being raised as a "military brat" and by parents who wanted their children to appreciate history gave me the opportunity of visiting many areas of the United States. My childhood embedded in me a lifetime love of antiquity. For instance, Journals and Journaling--they are so inspiring, and I am really "into" Altered Journals right now. The diversity of our world is reflected in so many art forms, so I always try to stay "outside the box" in whatever I do with my artwork. I am married (26 years), live along the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico in northern Florida, and for my "real" job, I am the Real Estate Closing Manager for the Dowd Title Group, in Destin, Florida. I have been in this profession for 27 years and love it! My greatest personal accomplish to date is finishing my MBA! |
