Paris Memories UTEE frame
By Linda Strawn
1. Melt 1/2 cup of clear UTEE in a melting pot to this mixture add 1/2
scoop of FLEX and stir very slowly with a wooden dowel. If you stir too
vigorously you will induce air bubbles. Set aside. All products are
available from Suze Weinberg Studios.
2. Review direction for faux Dichroic glass (click
here for link.)
3. On a Teflon heat resistant mat from Ranger , cut a piece of rainbow
heat foil to cover a large sq slide frame, frames are available from Hot
of the Press and are part of their card maker series. Lay the foil rainbow
or colored side down.
4. When UTEE is completely melted and a light amber color grasp slide
frame with a tweezers and place in the melting pot to lightly coat slide
frame with UTEE. Grasp with a tweezers and remove, letting most of the
excess drip off. Lay the slide frame onto the foil, and push down hard to
make good contact.
5. Let this dry till cool to touch and remove the foil, you will see that
the rainbow side has adhered to the frame. Using an Exacto knife, remove
excess UTEE from the center and edges of slide frame.
6. You must do this step quickly, grasp slide frame with tweezers and
quickly dip foiled UTEE into hot UTEE, remove it quickly and lay it onto
the mat to dry. Remove excess again. NOTE: do not let it sit in the hot
UTEE or the foil will melt off. This will add a nice coat to seal in the
foil.
7. Laying the foil side up use your heat gun to melt slightly and smooth
the frame, you will note that the foil starts to crack and craze giving it
a look of diocloric glass. Don’t let the heat sit long in one place or you
will melt your foil off.
8. Clean off excess one last time from the inside and outside edges and
then use your heat gun very quickly to smooth our cuts. Set frame aside to
dry.
9. Cut a piece of white glossy cardstock 4 x 4, using a stipple brush
stipple on butterscotch, terracotta, and ginger, and a touch of red pepper
and lettuce. Let dry. Inks are Adirondack from Ranger
10. When dry using espresso ink stamp your choice of images, I used small
mountain, bare branch, and cattails from Stampscapes, at the right corner
I used 1771 think background script from stamp in the hand. At the top I
stamped Memories from PSX in rust.
11. Cut a daisy prints paper #24 available from All My Memories into 8-1/2
x 11 and cut this in half and fold into a card. This paper is double sided
so save a scrap to use at the top. Mount the stamped square onto card.
12. Cut the photo of the woman in a hat available from Stamp Oasis the
size of slide frame. Check to see where photo frame will lay on the bottom
left side of card and mark, glue photo onto the mark. Using double sided
tape glue frame over photo. See finished picture.
13. On ecru cardstock stamp Eiffel tower using ginger ink and cut out,
glue this to the right side of card. See picture for placement.
14. On a scrap of paper left over from card, use the green side and stamp
with espresso ink Paris, both stamps are from Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers.
Trim image and mount at the top center of card.
15. Embellish with a charm of France and a saying along picture frame top.
See picture for placement.
