Holiday Presents by Steph Schirmer

The holidays are just around the corner and it is time to start thinking about what gifts you are going to make.  There are a lot of suggestions out there, but a few from last year included recipe books, jewelry, altered books, candles, calendars and star books.

There are a lot of us who automatically make our Christmas cards every year.  Most of us have started them and are done or in the process.  Each of these cards in themselves is a gift to the person receiving it and are cherished delights in the mail.  Besides stamping cards, stamping wrapping paper is very popular for adding that personal touch to a package.  There are a ton of templates out there to make boxes in various shapes and sizes, you can mass produce them in an assembly line starting with coloring, then stamping and assembling them, and then they are ready to fill.

This time of the year, stamping magazines are filled with all sorts of ideas.  If you are looking for inspiration page thru them and I am sure you will find a multitude of things from matching cards and envelopes, place settings for the table, goodie containers, ornaments just to name a few.

Another source of inspiration are the local rubber stamp stores, hobby stores likes Michaels, Hobby Lobby, just stroll the isles.  The local rubber stamp stores have beautiful story boards filled with all sorts of cards designs.  They offer a lot of themed classes this time of the year fill with all sorts of ideas.  The best thing to do is contact your local store and see what they have to offer.

check out past columns from April 2006, May 2006 a ton of website and inspirational sites were listed.

The main thing is to plan your gift making out, don’t wait till the last minute to do everything.  If you see things you might like to make, save the magazine or start a file of possible gifts, then as the time gets closer pull the file out and browse thru it.  Plan get togethers with other stampers or friends, make a day of creating and stamping your cards.  The main thing is to have fun, be creative and enjoy what you are giving.

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season!!!!
