Where the Heart Resides
Jeweled Triptych Card by Lis Whiting

Triptych cards are three part cards. You can create the template yourself,
buy a template or purchase a rubber stamp that is in a triptych format.
The card we are completing uses a Triptych rubber stamp design by
Stamper’s Anonymous. SA has a variety of triptych mounted rubber stamps.
You can go to their website at
www.stampersanonymous.com to view them.
Create Your Base Card:
Use Stardream cardstock [The Paper Cut] in platinum and dark blue and
stamp the triptych design on each color. Since this is a coated paper, use
StazOn Black. Heat set to assure that it is dry. (You can stamp two images
on one piece of 8-1/2 x 11 cardstock if you want and make two cards.) When
you have finished cutting the outer shaper, cut out the inner shape of the
platinum only using an Xacto knife and self healing mat. (You might want
to cut the round and irregular lines first and then work on the straight
lines last. Also, use a metal ruler with a cork bottom as it grips the
paper better.)
(See Picture 1)

The Background & Scoring:
Stamp Face [Stampland] with Brilliance Black [Tsukineko] onto the dark
blue background. Don’t worry about masking as the sterling foreground will
cover anything that you overstamp onto the columns. The background is very
simple. It’s the jewelling of the cover that will take some time. Score
both the foreground and the background. Note: Although the stamp has
hidden markings so that you can fold it properly, you will need to score
the card from the back so that the ends fold in. Do not attempt to fold
this card by hand. Use a “Score-It!” or other scoring tool on your paper
trimmer in order to get the lines very straight. After scoring, fold both
pieces and make sure that they fit together well. Attach front to back
with glue tape.
(See Picture 2)

Attaching the pieces together can be challenging.
Start in the middle.
Stamp “discover”, “timeless” and “Wonder” at the bottom of the card [Just
Rite Wheel Stamps].
Jewelling the Foreground:
We will use the following to jewel the front of the triptych.
* Acrylic Jewels: faceted rounds (2mm), Cabochon rounds(5mm) & faceted
marquis (approximately 4mm x 7mm)
* Pearls
* Bugle beads in gold
* Metal Flakes for foiling the columns
* Lumiere [Jacquard] (Metallic Silver, Pearl Violet)
To Attach:
* The jewels use Aleene’s Thick Designer Tacky Glue, a wooden skewer and a
pair of tweezers. Place a thin layer on the spot you want to foil and
smooth thinly with a fine paint brush or your finger. Place foil on top.
* The foil to the columns, use Aleene's Thick Designer Tacky Glue, a
toothpick and tweezers
Tips:
* Clean your tweezers and skewer often to avoid glue pile up.
* You can always find a few shorted Bugle beads (glass) in a package. Use
them next to the score lines so that you can fold your card.
