At the Circus by Viki Banaszak

Cut a piece of gold cardstock to 18.75 by 6 inches and fold 4.75 in on each side to make the doors. Crease well. On the inside of the card, create shadows using walnut ink and a scrap of paper. Dab a sponge on the ink and then on the cardstock, along the edge of your scrap paper to look like lights and shadows. (See Picture 5)

On the front flaps of the card, swipe vintage paper distress ink across the surface straight from the ink pad. Go lightly. You want to add just enough to make it resemble canvas blowing in the wind. (See Picture 2

)

Stamp images of the circus from (Circustamps) onto white cardstock and color with pencils and markers. The monkeys in the wagon are from Appaloosa Art Stamps. Trim your characters closely. Then arrange them on your page, using each section as a ring in your 3ring circus. Decide which pieces need to stand out and use pop dots on them to bring them to the foreground. (See Picture 3)

Trim the top of the flaps with a scalloped paper edging scissors. Cut a large triangle out of red and white cardstock measuring 9-3/8 x 4-3/8”. Cut the sides of the triangles in a curve freehand to make the tent top. Attach the red piece to the center top of your card. Cut curved strips out of the white triangle to make the tent stripes. Make them smaller at the top and wider at the bottom.

On the front left side of the card arrange the marching band and add the sign at an angle. Do not attach the bottom corner of the sign. On the right side, attach the wagon so that the front edge slides just under the signs corner. You can flip the flap over and lightly mark in pencil where the wagon will need to be glued. Wipe some distressed ink on the back of the wagon where it will show when the card is open so it is not so stark of a contrast. Add the strong man in front of the wagon using pop dots. (See Picture 1)
