DIRECTIONS:
I was inspired to create this altered tin by my Romantic Poetry kit. It came in a plain acrylic box and I decided it needed a more fitting container. I'm pleased with the result and hope you'll enjoy recreating this project.

Start by tracing the outline of the tin lid and base onto a sheet of white paper. Using a stipple brush stipple dye inks randomly on to both traced sections to colour the paper. Ink up the medieval image with Ancient Page coal black dye ink and stamp the lid paper portion. Ink it again and stamp the knight portion onto cream cardstock. Stamp the lady collage, butterfly, scissors and text on the base paper portion too.

Run the decorated papers through a Xyron to add adhesive and cut to size. Adhere each piece to the tin and edge with a gold metallic paint marker. Add detail to the text on the medieval image with a fine point metallic gold paint marker.

Cut 4 pieces of trim and glue in place with Aleene's fast grab glue. Remove the arms off the brads with wire cutters and glue just the tops to the four corners of the trim to conceal the cut ends. Colour the knight with PrismaColor coloured pencils and cut out. Cut up 3D adhesive foam dots into small pieces and place them around the edge of the knight and larger ones in the middle sections. Cut a small piece of red eyelash fiber and adhere to the back of the knight with small dabs of glue. Remove the backing of the adhesive dots and adhere the knight to the tin lid.

Finish off the altered tin by covering any writing on the sides of the tin lid and base with narrow metallic silver border stickers. Run the border stickers all around the edges for a finished look. Attach poetry word magnets to the outside of the lid and assemble some poetry lines inside.

Keep the extra poem words in a small organza bag and when you're ready to take your tin traveling with you put everything into a larger organza bag. May the power of words be with you!
