DIRECTIONS
Base coat a wooden tic tac toe game by painting it with black acrylic paint to seal the wood. Once dry apply one coat of magnetic paint to the back portion of each niche and allow it to dry for 24 hours. Do a test to see if the coat is strong enough to hold a magnet with a square wooden game tile attached (tip: I attached the magnet to the tile with a piece of double-sided tape for the test). You might need to apply 2 - 3 more coats depending on how thickly you apply each coat. Make sure you let each coat dry for 24 hours. The magnetic paint dries gray so re-paint over it with black acrylic paint.

Paint the front of the game with 1 - 2 coats of pearl white Lumiere acrylic paint and allow to dry between each coat. Then randomly dab on violet-gold, pink-gold and a bit more pearl white with a paint brush to blend. Once dry, colour the sides and the back of the game with a metallic gold opaque paint marker. Then colour the edges and one side of each of the square wooden game tiles in gold.

Stamp the portion of the text in Ancient Page coal black dye ink all over the front of the game. Put aside to dry.

Create your own patterned paper by randomly stippling dye inks onto a sheet of white paper. Cut the sheet in half and stipple a violet and pale violet combination on one piece, then a plum and magenta combination on the other piece. Using the same ink combinations randomly stamp the mini tic tac toe images all over each piece of paper (see photo). Cut the paper up into squares to fit the wooden game tiles. Six of each colour combination. Edge each square with a gold paint pen then run the squares through a Xyron to add adhesive.

Adhere the patterned squares to the wooden game tiles. Adhere the remaining two squares to the back of the game as decoration. Seal the entire piece with Krylon Workable Artist's Fixative. Cut up a piece of sheet magnet into rectangles and glue to the back of each game tile with fast grab glue. Tip: Sheet magnets work the best with the magnetic paint. I also like to recycle junk mail ads that have sheet magnets attached to them like company business cards. If you can't recycle then the magnet sheets sold at craft stores are great to use.
