Star Creations

Star Magnet by Phyllis Johnson

Rubber Stamp - From www.stampoasis.com

Directions:
Take several different colors of friendly plastic of your choice and place them on a non -stick craft sheet. Put craft sheet in your hot pot or other heat source and melt until very soft. You can also melt friendly plastic with your heat gun if no heat source is available. I melted one piece at a time so that it was still warm when I used it.

Place a metal shape cutter on the soft plastic and press firmly. Let plastic cool completely and then remove cutter.

Place stars back on craft sheet in a circle and melt until they are just stuck together, not to long or they will loose their shape.

Stamp your chosen stamp on a piece of card stock and color with any medium of your choice. Trim around picture and when friendly plastic is still warm, place picture on top and press in place, can use end of paint brush to press as plastic is still a little warm.

Attach a thin magnet piece to back of stars with Crafters Pick Ultimate glue. This is a all purpose glue that I use all the time.

Rusted Metal Star Card by BRANDI POWELL

All Images by www.rubbertreestamps.com (Peace on Earth #35-103)

DIRECTIONS:
1. Stamp 3 peace on earth images, one each of chocolate, rust & tan on ivory cardstock. Trim all three out. Use deckle scissors to trim all 3 into three pieces. Combine three pieces to make one center image in 3 colors. Layer on chocolate and then rust cardstock. Set aside.
2. Stamp Peace on Earth image on ivory cardstock panel in a block pattern, alternating chocolate, rust & tan inks.
3. Trim piece of crackle pattern paper into a large rectangle. Trim diagonally with deckle scissors. This should make two triangles.
4. Adhere one crackle triangle to lower right of stamped panel. Adhere the other to the upper left hand side of same panel.
5. Use spray adhesive to attach chocolate ric-rac ribbon up left side and bottom of prepared panel. Trim edges.
6. Adhere completed tan panel to rust layer of cardstock.
7. Adhere prepared square panel to center of card and set aside.
8. Pour an equal amount of bleach and vinegar in mixing bowl. Soak metal pieces in mixture until they rust, normally just a few minutes. If using really thick metal may take up to 24 hours. Let stars dry.
9. Adhere larger star at bottom left of card and smaller star at upper right, sliding the small star slightly under the square layer on card.

Vellum Votive by Shona Watson

Stamps of your choice - Michael's (the celestial ones in the picture)

Directions:
Although you can make these votives any size, the ones in these instructions are 5 x 5.
Cut 2 pieces of vellum 5 x 10 ½
Stamp your vellum to make the background appear as you want.
Cut 4 pieces of cardstock 5 x 5 in your choice of color. Depending on the look you're going for, you can do them all one color and do all four different.
Depending on how you want the sides of your votive to look, you can either cut a large square out of the middle leaving a border of about ½ in., or you can cut out 4 squares to make the appearance of "windows", or make up your own design!! If you do the "window" look, it's a lot easier if you use a 2 x 2 square punch.
You adhere 2 of these pieces to each piece of vellum. Whatever end you start on, adhere the cardstock to the edge of the vellum, and then put as much space as you wish (or no space at all) in between the next piece of cardstock. The space in between the pieces of cardstock will be creased to form the corners of the votive. Just make sure that when adhering the cardstock that you leave enough space on one end for a "tab" to glue the pieces together. Also make sure that when you're putting the cardstock on the vellum that you start on the same end on both pieces or they won't fit together correctly.
Crease the vellum in between the pieces of cardstock on both pieces and also the left over vellum on the ends.
Put your adhesive on the "tabs" and put your votive together now.
You can embellish the sides of you votives as you wish. Some of mine I used those flat glass marbles. You can get these in all different colors. Sometimes I stamp a larger image and cut it out and glue it in the center of each side. Just have fun with this part!! I also use my hot glue gun to attach these marbles to the bottom (and the top, if you want!) on each corner.
It may be easier to understand these instructions if you look at the photos as you are reading it.
