"Coin" ATC by Jane in
San Diego

Supplies:
Discarded CD (such as an AOL disk)
Scissors (use old, heavy duty shears NOT your good
stamping scissors)
Hot Water
Puff Paint (Tulip brand, white color)
Ranger Alcohol Inks (Wild Plum, Stream)
Ranger Blending solution
Large Coin
Heat gun
craft mat or parchment paper
Gold embossing Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel
Melting pot or electric skillet with disposable tart
tin
tweezers or tongs
oven mitts (optional if using an electric skillet)
Directions:
1) Cut the discarded CD to ATC size by heating it up
in hot water to soften the plastic and then cutting it
with old shears.
2) Using a discarded piece from the trimmed disk,
spread the white puff paint on in a thin, even layer.
3) Working on a craft mat on a heat-protected
surface, use your heat gun to puff the paint. By
varying the distance you hold your heat gun to the surface of the ATC and how long you wait to heat the
paint, you can alter the texture of your ATC. I heat
my ATC immediately after I spread on the paint and I
had my heat gun real close to the surface.
4) Meanwhile, heat the gold ultra thick embossing
enamel in a melting pot according to manufacturers
directions or heat it in a disposable tart tin in an
electric skillet if you do not have a hot pot. Set
the electric skillet to 375 degrees F and use oven
mitts to handle the tart tin. Use care as this
material is very hot once it is molten!
5) While the gold ultra thick embossing enamel is
melting, drop alcohol ink in random patterns on the
puff painted ATC. Do not cover all the areas and let
the ink creep along the nooks and crannies. Let dry.
6) Using a lot of caution, coat the back of the coin
with the ultra thick embossing enamel and place it on
the ATC while it is still hot. (Or use adhesive of
your choice to mount the coin.) Carefully drizzle the
molten gold ultra thick embossing enamel in an
attractive pattern on your ATC. Let it cool and
harden before handling.
