This card is fairly complex and has lots of steps, so just to give you a general outline: first, make the background for the main frame. Then, create the two sides of each spinning item. String the beads, assemble the spinning items, cut out the main cardstock and then finally, assemble the whole thing. Step 1: Create the background for the main frame by spritzing a 6"x9" piece of cold press watercolor paper with water on both sides. Take a small foam brush and drop a couple of drops of Ancient Page Lemon Peel reinker on one side, along with one drop of Mandarin Orange. Spritz the brush heavily with rubbing alcohol, and then paint the paper. Keep on spritzing the brush with alcohol till the ink is all gone; you may have to reink. Next, mix a small amount of Stewart Gill Solar Flare Alchemy paint with some water, and use the same foam brush to cover the paper with a thin layer of interference sparkle. Finally, use a small amount of Making Memories Scrapbooking paint in Nutmeg on the same foam brush, wetting thoroughly with water. You should achieve a beautifully lustrous, richly-colored piece of paper. Dry gently with a heat gun, taking care not to let it buckle.
Cut your main frame to the following dimensions: outside edges should be 5" x 7", and the inside rectangle cut out should be 3 1/8" x 4 5/8". Upper margin is 7/8", side margins are 15/16". Edge all sides, inner and outer, with an orange marker to hide the white of the watercolor paper. Line the inner and outer edges on the back with double-stick adhesive. Step 2: On the discarded pieces of the main frame paper, cut out three circles 1 5/8". Stamp sun (My Paper Moon) with black Versacraft, and emboss with Ranger Clear embossing powder. Spritz a yellow piece of art tissue paper with bleach, then Cardinal Red mixed with a bit of rubbing alcohol, and Encore Gold Metallic mixed with some water. Let dry, then adhere a piece to watercolor paper and cut out three circles, also 1 5/8". Stamp letters (Lucid Dreams) and emboss with Ranger Clear. Run all 6 circles through a Xyron.
Step 4: Fold a light gold 7 1/4" x 10.5" piece of Stardream cardstock in half, then flatten out again. Without adhering it, place the main stamped frame over the front of the base cardstock, and lightly mark with a pencil the four corners of the opening. Remove the stamped paper, and then cut out the inner rectangle. Step 5: Turn over the stamped frame and remove the top and bottom strips protecting the adhesive on the inner rectangle. Position the cords, stretching lightly and making sure the letters face the front in the proper order; cover each end of the cord with extra adhesive and press down so everything is secure. Cut off extra cording. Turn over, and position the frame over the base cardstock, making sure everything sticks well. |
