“Guitar Pick Pendant” Domino Necklace by Paula Snaith-Morris

Start the project by punching 3 holes out of the guitar pick. A great tip for doing this is to place the pick into hot water for a couple of minutes.  The hot water softens the plastic and prevents it from cracking.

After they are punched, stamp the surface of the pick with Adirondack Alcohol Ink:  Stream, Espresso & Raisin (Ranger Ink) using the polished stone technique and put aside to dry.

Once the pick has dried seal the surface with 3D Crystal Lacquer Hi Tack (local craft store).  Put aside to dry and go onto the next step.

Beaded dangles: Cut 3 lengths of silver toned beading wire.  Prepare 1 strand for beading by doing the following steps:

1.  Thread on a silver toned crimp bead.

2.  Form a loop and pass the wire back through the crimp bead.

3.  Squeeze the crimp bead to secure it in place with pliers.

4.  Remove excess wire with wire cutters.

Thread on the beads and create a similar loop on the opposite end following the above steps. Do the same for 1 more strand of the same length and then 1 shorter version.

Attach a silver butterfly charm (a piece from an old bracelet) to the center of the guitar pick using Aleene's Tacky glue.

Do the polished stone technique onto 2 mini dominoes alcohol inks as the guitar pick. Ink butterfly stamp (Hero Arts) using a silver pigment ink brush pad (Colour Box.)  Stamp 1 half of the butterfly onto the domino and repeat by stamping the other half of the butterfly onto the second domino. Immediately sprinkle silver embossing powder (Heat Up) over the stamped images.  Tap off the excess powder and heat set with an embossing heat gun. Edge both mini dominoes with a silver metallic paint marker (DecoColor).

Attach the 2 longer beaded dangles to the wider edge of the guitar pick and the shorter dangle to the top with silver toned jump rings.  Add the guitar pick pendant to a length of colour coordinating fiber by threading the fiber through the loop in the top dangle.

The 2 mini dominoes are 'no hole' dominoes which means I didn't drill any holes into them.  Instead I glued a blue frosted glass bead to the top of each domino as a bale with super glue.  Put aside to dry following manufacturer recommendations.  Once the bead bales are secure thread the 2 mini dominoes onto the necklace.  Finish off the necklace with a bead and loop closure.  Thread another blue frosted glass bead onto one end of the fiber and secure in place with a knot and a dab of super glue.  Form a loop on the other end just large enough for the bead to pass through snuggly and secure with a knot and a dab of super glue.
