Flower CD Presentation Folder and Pop Dots by Linda Strawn

I had taken so many pictures of flowers in West Yellowstone Park I wanted a way to mail them to a friend that would both be attractive as well as informative. First I copied my images to a disk.

1: (note, I used 3 main coordinating papers for my project. Picture out cover paper; I used a small rosebud print. Cover your CD top with this paper. You can get a CD holder/mailer at most music stores, some stamp stores sell them, as well as copy places like Kinko’s, or there are several places on the internet to find templates to create your own. I used a cardboard CD mailer. Fold side flaps inside, leave top and bottom flaps flat and lay onto your piece of cover paper and trace around CD mailer carefully, cut this out, being very careful to stay within your lines. Add a thin layer of paper glue and glue this to the front. You can trim any that goes beyond your CD holder. Add a piece of double sided tape along top and bottom flaps, but do not remove protective covering from tape yet. (See picture # 1) Score your paper where the folds are in the center.

2: Using decorative paper cover inside panels, for sample I used a light green dragonfly paper. To trace this panel, fold all flaps in like before and trace and cut out this piece, using paper glue, glue this piece to the inside panels (see picture #2)

3: Trace both side flaps onto decorative paper # 3; I used a brown and pink flowered paper to cover these flaps, (see picture #3). After tracing them and cutting them out, remove tape from top and bottom flaps and fold side flaps over to adhere, this forms your pockets where the CD and contents page will go. Now go ahead and cover the flaps with your decorative paper. (See picture #4)

4: Front decorations: I used the morning glory large stamp from GG designs, ink center up by tapping corner of yellow cadmium chalk ink pad from color box into center of flowers. Ink up the morning glory flowers by tapping dark peony chalk ink on the flower; then finish by adding meadow Adirondack ink onto the stems and leaves. Huff on stamp and stamp this image onto a white linen cardstock. Clean stamp and ink up flowers using just the dark peony, and ink up a third image by using chalk pad in wisteria pink.
Cut out first image, also trace out on pink Bazzil paper a 4 ½ x 3 ¼ “oval, I used a template from Conner’s collectibles to do this. Using pop dots cover cut out flower back and mount in center of oval. Cut your pop dots to fit tiny places if need be.

5: Using the pink image, cut bottom flower petal on top flower and use scissor blades to curl and furl your petal, I just run my petal over the blade and pull the paper the way I want it to curl. When curled, tap the top edge with a bit of the dark peony chalk pad to add shadow. Use a pop dot and secure to the flower at the bottom. Repeat for other flower petals using the dark peony image and adding or deepening color where desired, (I tried to do the outside edges and where the flower petals fold with the deeper color) See picture. I also made sure the inside stamen (yellow part) showed. Just have fun with this, adding petals where desired, I added 3 petals to each flower and 1 to the bud.

6: Using chestnut roan chalk pad ink up hero arts F2929 life is stamp and stamp onto a piece of white linen cardstock, tear around this image and use pop dots to mount onto front of CD holder. Add a small ribbon pearl bow to saying and your front is complete.

7: Inside decorations: I used paper and trim from a book by Hot off the Press called Girls to Women, cut out the flower with tag window and add pop dots to this and mount in the center of first flap. Glue a ribbon across the bottom over the image and add a pop dot and a mount a flower on top. Cut a piece of pink Bazzil paper to fit inside pocket, and fold a small scrap of ribbon in half and staple to side, this will make it easy for you to pull out this piece. I added my journaling and contents to this page and tucked it out of sight into the pocket.

8: Cover a slide mount with the same paper you used for the front. Cut a tag out of the pink Bazzil paper and using dark peony chalk ink, stamp flowers say hello from the heart #C2553 from Hero Arts onto bottom of tag. Punch a hole in top of tag and add a brown polka dot ribbon. Use a scrap of green dragonfly paper and ink up #C3037 spring stamp with black ink, inking up just the words spring. Cut this out to fit across bottom of slide mount and set with a bard or eyelet on both sides, slide tag into bottom strip to hold. Using pop dots mount the slide mount on the page as shown.

9: Using an alphabet stamp (I used #LL846 classic caps, ink up letters with dark peony to tell of disks contents and stamp across the disk. Now you can send a beautiful picture disk, contents and present it in a perfect holder.
