Cat Shade by gg Burns

1.) I purchased a plain night light shade from my local craft store.  First, spay lightly with water and paint with several colors of Twinkling H2o's.  I also lightly mist the sides with Adirondack Color Wash.  I used eggplant color. You could also dip a stiff brush into a watercolor mix and sprinkle for a speckled look if desired.  (Hint, you may want to wear gloves when using the A. color washes ... they will stain everything in site including your fingers.)
See photo #1

2.)  Stamp an image on velum or tracing paper. In
photo #2
I've used a cat image from Hearts in Touch #87 GG's cat's rubber stamp sheet.  I used black StazOn Ink, so it will not bleed when I apply the gel medium.  This is one of my favorite images. It's a painting I did of a white Angora Cat named Niki ... that I had about 25 years ago.

3.)  If you prefer, you can add some color to the the stamped image with Marvy's LePlume II markers or Sakura's Glaze Gel Pens as I have in photo image #2.  All of these products can be purchased from Frances at HeartsinTouch.com.

4.)  In photo #3
, I’ve stamped a cat poem by Amy Kalvin from gg's Cat stamps (HIT) ... in purple StazOn on ink over the cat image.  I tore the edges and attached it to the lamp shade with Gel Medium.  After smoothing it out carefully with my fingers, I applied another coat of Gel Medium with a brush.
photo #4
, shows the night light plugged in and the furry kitty glowing in the dark.
