Bleach Techniques by Daylene Strickland
On teal cardstock stamp flower image (Delta/Rubber Stampede) using full strength bleach. Note that not all cardstocks bleach the same. Always work in well ventilated area and use caution with work surface and clothing when working with bleach. For this card, a folded up paper towel was used with a small portion of bleach added. The stamp was applied much like to an “inkpad”. Wash stamp immediately and allow cardstock to completely dry. Overstamp this piece of cardstock with “Friend” script (Hero Arts) using slightly darker ink than the cardstock. (Nick Bantock Deep Turquoise was used for this card.) Layer on slightly larger pieces of white, yellow cardstock and teal card. Stamp flower on small piece of yellow cardstock 3 times but only ink once with turquoise ink. Edge paper with same ink. Fold down one corner and embellish with brad. Add white mulberry layer between it and layer on card.
On a dark piece of cardstock (navy for this project), use a 2-inch bristle paint brush to apply strokes of full strength bleach. This effect was best achieved by dabbing only the tip of the brush in bleach, dotting most of the bleach off of the brush on a paper towel so the brush is not very wet when applying it to the cardstock. Start in the center of cardstock and gently brush in outward strokes. Repeat until desired results are achieved. Always work in well ventilated area and use caution with work surface and clothing when working with bleach. Allow cardstock to completely dry. Stamp flower image (Stampington) three times using dye ink (Versafine Majestic Blue used). Stamp verse randomly. (Wordsworth). Apply iridescent gold calligraphy ink to a toothbrush (Dr. Ph. Martin’s) and apply spots to cardstock with fingertip. Layer on slightly larger white, lavender cardstock and navy card. Stamp flower image on small piece of lavender cardstock and trim to fit bezel (Above The Mark). Adhere to card using The Ultimate! Craft Glue. This bleach technique was inspired by Randi Richardson. |
