Message Revealed
Anything New At Your Nest by Linda Strawn

Design Team Leader

Hiding Message Card

1-     On white linen cardstock, using black ink, stamp Hen (Art Impressions.)

2-     Using soft lead color pencils, color and shade image as desired.  When done cut image out.  Then ink up just the legs and color and cut these out.  Set aside.  Stamp message (Art Impressions) anything new at your nest on white linen cardstock in black ink.  Cut this out carefully into a small rectangle. Using yellow ink edge the saying.   Set aside.

3-     Trace moving mechanism out carefully onto white cardstock, use top image for message on the left hand of card, and bottom for message on the right.  For this project we will be using the top image.

4-     Cut on solid lines and score on light lines.  Carefully valley fold all scored lines, See Picture 1

5-     Cut a white pearl piece of cardstock 8-1/2 x 5-1/2” and fold into a card, opening at the side.

6-     Matt card with a piece of black and white polka dot paper.

7-     Using Brilliance platinum planet ink and black cardstock, stamp chicken wire background, (Stampin Up!) cut out as desired to form center of card.

8-     Going back to mechanism, add double stick tape to long arm at the top of mechanism and add the saying to this, See Picture 2

9-     Add double stick tape to tabs A & B and secure them to your card wherever desired.   This will form a kind of box, See Picture 3

10- Add double stick tape to the center part of mechanism where it says (tape image here) add your cut out hen to the mechanism.  Check to see mechanism is working by pulling on the hen’s feet; this should pop the message up for all to see on the left hand side.  Work this a couple of times to get message moving free and adjust if necessary.  The Hen should sit right down for easy mailing and pop right up with message showing when you pull the feet.  If you are mailing this card, send a small note to pull the feet.

11- With a glue gun, glue small strips of raffia to nest, add a couple of yellow feathers and a couple of partridge feathers tucked in amongst the raffia.

12- Embellish as desired, for this card, use a few yellow feathers and wrap the tips with green wire.  Tie a piece of black and white polka dot ribbon in the center, glue to top of card.  Glue feathers on top and curl wire ends, and glue a small loop of ribbon to cover ends.

13- Add hot glue to Hen’s legs and glue them in place over the legs on the stamped image, this accomplishes 2 purposes, #1 the legs and be set in amongst the nest raffia and feathers and #2 it gives you a harder more durable surface to pull for the message pop out.  Enjoy
