Witchaeries by Leigh Snaith-Brunton

"Lamia"

Hi Everyone! I'd like to introduce you to a few of my Witchaeries! I named this Witchaerie Lamia, which means witch or vampire in Latin :)

Supplies:
Southwestern lady rubber stamp by Rubbernecker Rubber Stamps
Super-sized white domino from www.craftingsandthings.com
Sharpies
Ancient Page Coal Black dye ink
Silver metallic Rose Art marker
Bat confetti
Black/orange striped chenille stem
Acetate
Silver mirror cardstock
Scissors
Xyron & adhesive cartridge
Blue tassel
Bat earring charm
Glue dots
Black felt or suede fabric
Judikins Diamond Glaze
Black wire
Heat gun

Directions:
For this project you're going to need a super-sized domino straight from the tin. No surface preparation is needed. Stamp the image with Ancient Page Coal Black dye ink and heat set. Colour the image with Sharpie markers. Decorate the sides of the domino by copying the colours and design of the wings.

Colour 3 confetti bats with a silver Sharpie. Seal the decorated domino with a coat of Diamond Glaze. Add a silver bat to the domino while the glaze is still wet.

Make the bat wings by first deciding on the style of wing. I found lots of images of bat wings on the net. Then either use a background design from free background sites on the net or scan a background paper and then print out the background design onto acetate. Put the bat wing design under the acetate and trace out the wings. Run the printed acetate through a Xyron to add adhesive and adhere the acetate to silver mirror cardstock. Cut out the wings. Add detail to the wings with a silver metallic marker and adhere two confetti bats to the wings with Diamond Glaze. Outline the wings with a silver Sharpie marker.

Wrap a black and orange striped chenille stem around the domino, before twisting the stem ends together thread the loop of a tassel onto the stem. Then twist the chenille stem ends together and cut off the excess. Put a glue dot on the back of the domino and adhere the tassel loop to the back of the domino.

Remove a bat charm from an earring. Add wire to the charm loop and tie the charm to a small piece of the chenille stem. Then wrap the chenille stem around the wrapped part of the tassel.

Add more glue dots to the back of the domino and adhere the wings in place. As part of the design on the domino I extended the wings behind the lady. When adhering the wings line the wings up with the extended drawn wings.

To finish off the Witchaerie cut a piece of black felt or suede fabric slightly smaller than the domino and adhere to the back of the domino to hide all the glued areas.

"Hecate"

I named this Witchaerie Hecate, which means goddess of magic and enchantment in Latin. I thought this a suitable name for a stamp called Dreamweaver :)

Supplies:
Dreamweaver rubber stamp by Acey Deucy
Standard ivory or white domino
Sharpies
Ancient Page Coal Black dye ink
Silver metallic Rose Art marker
Bat confetti
Acetate
Silver mirror cardstock
Scissors
Xyron & adhesive cartridge
Pink and purple tassel
Skeleton earring charm
Black feathers
Glue dots
Black felt or suede fabric
Judikins Diamond Glaze
Black wire
Heat gun

Directions:
For this project you're going to need a standard sized domino straight from the tin. No surface preparation is needed. Stamp the image with Ancient Page Coal Black dye ink and heat set. Colour the image with Sharpie markers. Colour the sides of the domino with a black Sharpie.

Edge the domino with a silver Sharpie and then seal the decorated domino with a coat of Diamond Glaze.

Add detail to the wings with a silver metallic marker and adhere two black confetti bats to the wings with Diamond Glaze. Outline the wings with a silver Sharpie marker.

Wrap the loop of a pink and purple tassel round the domino. Adhere in place with Diamond Glaze. Knot the loop at the top of the domino. Hide the knot by gluing a larger confetti bat coloured silver to the domino.

Remove a skeleton charm from an earring. This one is made of glow-in-the-dark plastic but I coloured it silver with a Sharpie. Add wire to the charm loop and thread the wire between the domino and the tassel loop. Secure the wire to the back of the domino with a glue dot.

Add more glue dots to the back of the domino and adhere the wings in place. As part of the design on the domino I extended the wings behind the lady. When adhering the wings line the wings up with the extended drawn wings. Also adhere black feathers to the back of the domino.

To finish off the Witchaerie cut a piece of black felt or suede fabric slightly smaller than the domino and adhere to the back of the domino to hide all the glued areas.

But before doing that decide what you'd like to do with your witchaerie. If you'd like to make her into a hanging ornament then add ribbon or fiber to the back. If you'd like to make her into a planter decoration then adhere a wooden stake to the back of the domino. This Witchaerie is also small enough to make into either a pin, pendant or fridge magnet. Then adhere the fabric backing and enjoy!

"Veneficus Viridis"

I'd like to introduce you to my Witchaerie called Viridis Veneficus, which basically means green magical poisonous sorceress in Latin :)
