Supplies:
Two full size dominos
Very fine sandpaper
Hanafuda image from D'Analen
Text weight red and white papers
gold or mustard card stock
Krylon gold pen
Chalks in red, blue, green and yellow
Q-tips
Future Floor Acrylic
Black Stazon ink pad
Versamark ink
red embossing powder
Variety of Asian stamp images (Hero Arts)
Kanji images (unknown)
Double stick tape
Two pieces metallic gold thread each 10" long
scissors
1/16" hole punch
Directions:
Sand the white side of each domino, taking the shiny finish down.
Wipe dust away. Stamp the Hanafuda image on one and a Kanji
character on the other, using black Stazon. When dry, use the q-tips
to dust with colors of chalk. Use the Krylon gold pen to paint the
edges of the domino. When dry lightly cover with the Future Acrylic.
Set aside to dry thoroughly.
Measure the height of the domino (for mine this was 2") and cut a
strip of white text paper slightly less than the height and 10" in
length. For me this was 1 7/8" wide. Prepare the red text weight
paper 10" long and the height above plus 1". Mine was then 2 7/8".
With the red strip, fold up one inch from the bottom, forming a
pocket.
Stamp the white sheet with a collage of Asian images. Rub a variety
of chalk colors over the images. Place the white and red strips back
to back, allowing the pockets to face up and the images on the white
paper facing out. Adhere the two strips and allow to dry. With the
strips do an accordion fold forming sections that will be 7/8" wide
(to fit inside the dominoes). Using the scissors, cut a small V at
the edge of each fold.
Tape one gold thread across the inside of the front of domino book
and another to the inside of the back. Leave thread to tie on either
side. Adhere the first flap over the back of the front domino and
the back flap to the inside of the back domino. Arrange to have the
pockets facing the inside of the book. Use double stick tape to
adhere the two ends of the accordion mechanism over the gold
threads. |
