Retro Chic Clutch Purse by Viki Banaszak

Take a boring white leather handbag from a second hand store and add your own touch to make a one of a kind Retro Chick handbag. See Picture 1

Select four inkpads that go well together. In this project, I used Memories Soft Rose, Soft Stone, Soft Vanilla and Soft Leaf. See Picture 2

You will also need a sheet of tissue paper. Lay the tissue paper out on your work area. Protect your work surface with scrap paper underneath as the inks will bleed threw.

Start with the Square Peg/Outline stamp (Hot Potatoes) and Memories Soft Leaf ink, using the creases of the tissue as a guide fore placement.
See Picture 3
You will be making a checkerboard style pattern with the images.

Next, you will fill in the blank spaces with Memories Soft Vanilla and the Donut stamp. After you have finished that, stamp the Donut/Outline #J458 (Hot Potatoes) in Soft Rose Memories ink on the diagonal areas joined by the Soft Leaf Squares.
See Picture 4
Don’t worry too much if your stamping does not come out perfect. The pattern is so busy that it will not be that noticeable.

The last stamping you will do is with the Atomic Explosion#F433 (Hot Potatoes) and Soft Stone Memories ink on the opposite diagonal areas.
See Picture 5

Trim the tissue paper to the size needed for your bag. Use masking tape over the clasp area of the purse to keep the gel medium off it. Attach the tissue to the bag using Liquitex Gloss Gel Medium and a foam brush. Use your fingers to carefully smooth out the air bubbles. See Picture 6

When this is dry, add 2 coats of Gel Medium over the top to seal the tissue paper. Attach a sheer blue green ribbon that is 1-1/2” wide to the edges with the gel medium. See Picture 7

Then layer the green ribbon with blue dots and the pink rickrack over the top of that. Add more of the green ribbon to the top of the purse along the clasp area.
See Picture 8

Last of all; add a sheer white ribbon that has little flowers on the front of the purse only. See Picture 9
