Incorporating Nature into Domino Jewelry
by Deirdre E.

The possibilities are endless when trying to incorporate nature into pieces of domino jewelry. Here are two examples to jump start your creative thoughts.

Start with 2 new dominos, for the mermaid, scribble blue and green sharpie marker across the face of a domino.     Rub the color in with a tissue so it blends nicely.   Use any mermaid stamp you have on hand, with black ink stamp the face of the colored domino and heat dry.     Stamp the second domino with a fairy stamp and heat set.   Use sharpie markers to color in the image.   Edge both dominos with a silver paint pen and spray them with a Krylon fixative, let dry then spray on a Krylon sealant.
Once they dry, it’s time for the fun! To finish the mermaid domino make a trip to the beach or your local craft shop.  Collect seaweed, small shells, driftwood, and sand, anything that catches your eye that could be of use and is a good size for a domino.   Wash everything then let them dry out in the sun or in front of a heat vent.  Once dry, play around with the items, and decide what looks best where.   Use E500 glue to attach your items, let dry.
The fairy can be turned into a forest fairy.  Head out back and see what you can find.   Use dried wheat, twigs, dried leaves etc.  Line up the tiny wheat stalks with the fairies wings, glue into place, let dry.

Coat both dominos with Diamond Glaze and let dry.    Final step, size, or break a piece of driftwood to fit the top of the mermaid domino.  Do the same with a twig for the fairy.

Use black or silver rattail cord and tie a knot around the twig then use E500 glue to attach the twig to the top of the domino, hold into place for a few minutes and then let dry completely.

Do the same with a piece of driftwood for the mermaid domino.

You have two beautiful pieces of domino jewelry that show off an appreciation for the world of nature around us.
