Steph Schirmer, Tips and Ideas

Hi I'm Steph Schirmer and I live in Pulaski, TN. My first memories of creating are from my grandmother when she taught me how to cross stitch to my mom, sister and I sitting around the dining room table making Christmas ornament which hang on my tree today. I have always loved creating in one form or another. It is the way I express myself.

I have been stamping for at least 7 years I think....to be truthful I can't remember when I didn't. I credit my interest in stamping to Lea Cioci. We used to go into a chat room for Aleene's craft show and I met her there. She talked about stamping and made it sound so easy and fun. I did a search and found the closest stamp store and have been hooked ever since. I started with beginner classes and worked my way up to some great teachers (Sherrill Kahn, Nancy Curry, Kathy Martin) just to name a few and have learned something from each and everyone of them. Classes are a great way to learn from everyone not only the teacher and you have so much fun.

I have been fortunate enough to be published in several magazines. A thrill to me still to this day. It always amazes me when my work is in there. That it is good enough to be in there . I was recently in the Transparency Art book by Somerset Studio and that was a thrill like no other...my first book. Transparencies are something I just discovered and love working with them.

My stamping style runs the whole course. I have never met a style I haven't tried. I love collage, simple stamping, resist, love doing clay tiles, backgrounds and transparencies. I love playing and seeing what I can come up with. I have spoiled my family so much they love getting my cards in the mail. My sister has saved everything I have sent her and it is a journey when we go thru it to see how I have changed over the years.

There are so many talented people out there and I enjoy seeing everyone work. It keeps me inspired. It keeps challenging me to work outside my box.
